Equip names head of restructured investment team

Equip has restructured its investment team and appointed Troy Rieck as executive officer, investment strategy.

The new role is a consolidation of the positions of executive officer, liability management, formerly held by Reick, and chief investment officer, formerly held by Michael Strachan, who is departing the fund after ten years.

Under Reick, the investment team has been restructured into three groups - defensive assets, growth assets, and asset allocation - but team members retain cross-functional responsibilities.

In a statement, the fund said the changes would "place greater emphasis on asset allocation and liability risk management as the fund prepares to deal with what it expects will be several challenging years in a low return investment environment."
