Energy Super appoints first independent director

Industry super fund Energy Super has appointed Brisbane lawyer Christine Maher as its first independent director. Maher is a partner of Corrs Chambers Westgarth and has more than 25 years' experience in establishing and advising Australian superannuation funds, administrators, fund managers and financial planners.

Prior to Energy Super, Maher held directorships with Suncorp Insurance and Finance and WorkCover Queensland, and was also a trustee of the Queensland Public Sector Scheme, Q Super.

Maher is the first female director of Energy Super's current board line-up.
