Employee Director joins HESTA board

HESTA has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of David Smith, who joins the $43 billion industry fund's board as an employee representative, effective 1 January 2018.

Smith is representing the Australian Services Union where he is the national secretary. He replaces Lisa Darmanin who has stepped down after five years of service.

Smith has been involved in the superannuation industry as a fund director since 2007 and has experience in leadership roles in member organisations.

He is currently a director at Energy Super, national secretary at Australian Services Union, a member of the ACTU Executive and a member of the AIST Remuneration Committee.

He is joined at HESTA by fellow new board member, Saranne Cooke, who joins as an employer representative from Leading Aged Services Australia.
