Equipsuper has confirmed the departure of long-standing employer director, Andrew Pickering, effective 30 April 2017.

Pickering was appointed to the board of the $7.3 billion fund in November 2005 and has over 20 years' experience as a lawyer and project developer in the energy industry in Australia and Asia. He is currently the chair and CIO of Infrastructure Capital Group Ltd, an infrastructure investment manager specialising in the origination and investment management of equity investments in the utility and infrastructure sectors.

Prior to this, he was a partner with law firm Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst).

Commenting on his departure, a spokesperson for Equipsuper told Industry Moves: "We are moving to a third/third/third model for our nine-person board. For a short period we will operate with three employer, three member and one independent director (Chair) until we announce the appointment of new directors to take effect from 1 July 2017."
