David Hartley has been appointed to the board of the $7 billion Australian Catholic Super and Retirement Fund as an employer representative, replacing Liz Cacciottolo.

Hartley has 34-years' investment industry experience. Most recently he spent a decade as chief investment officer of the $32b industry fund Sunsuper, before announcing his retirement in August 2015. Commenting on Hartley's appointment, board chair Richard Haddock said: "David is highly regarded in the industry, is keenly sought in providing his views and insights on the superannuation industry and we look forward to gaining the benefits of both his expertise and knowledge as a board member. David's many years of extensive experience in the financial services sector will ensure he is able to make solid contributions at the board level for our members."

Before Sunsuper, Hartley spent two years as director of investment consulting at Russell Investment Group and the previous two years as chief investment officer at Mercer.

He will commence his board tenure on 24 February 2016.
