Cromwell names Weiss new chair

Gary Weiss is the new chair of Cromwell.

He succeeds Jane Tongs, who has retired from the board. Tongs had only been chair since a board spill in late 2020. That spill was precipitated by Weiss' ARA Group takeover of Cromwell.

Said Weiss of his election, "I would like to assure securityholders that the Cromwell Board is focused on maximising the many exciting opportunities that we see before us. As Chair, I am committed to working collaboratively and constructively with my fellow Cromwell Directors to ensure those opportunities - including working with capital partners across Asia Pacific and Europe - are realised."

Weiss thanked Tongs for her service to the board and confirmed that Singapore-based Ooi Eng Peng has been elected as Cromwell's deputy chair and a senior independent director.

Weiss has a great deal of international experience including board roles with Ardent Leisure Group, and Thorney Opportunities Ltd. He is also a commissioner of the Australian Rugby League Commission.
