Date: January 2018
Position: Chief Investment Officer

Crestone Wealth Management (Crestone) has announced the appointment of Scott Haslem to the role of chief investment officer (CIO), effective January 2018.

He will replace Crestone's incumbent CIO David Sokulsky, who has been appointed as chief executive officer and chief investment officer for listed investment company, Aberdeen Leaders Limited.

Haslem has 20 years' experience in global financial markets and investment banking. He was most recently the managing director, and chief economist, head of macro research for Australia & New Zealand at UBS. Prior to joining UBS, he spent seven years working for the Reserve Bank of Australia, primarily in the economic activity and forecasting section.

According to a statement from the firm, Haslem is "independently regarded as one of Australia's leading economists and investment thinkers." The Australian East Coles Equities Market Report ranked him the number one broking economist for ten of the past 11 years.

Commenting on Haslem's appointment at Crestone, head of investments, products and services, Adam Ginnivan, said: "We are delighted that Scott will join us at Crestone and pleased to have the opportunity for a measured handover between Scott and David over coming weeks. The first 16 months in the life of Crestone was about building a robust and entirely unique investment process to cater to the exacting needs of our clients and advisers. We are thrilled to welcome Scott to assume the control of this process, upon which he can grow our capability to the next level."

Haslem added: "Having formerly been at UBS, one of Crestone's strategic partners, Crestone's culture, business model, scale and client orientation resonates strongly. Crestone has a unique opportunity in the Australian market that is very exciting for the business and its clients."
