Credit Suisse names new Australia CEO

Credit Suisse has announced the appointment of Richard Gibb as its new chief executive officer for Australia, effective October 2019.

In this role, Gibb will be responsible for the Swiss bank's Australian franchise across investment banking and capital markets, private banking, markets and finance.

Gibb has spent the past 10 years at Deutsche Bank, most recently as head of corporate finance, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, and prior to that as global head of financial institutions, based in New York. He has more than 30 years' experience in investment banking senior leadership roles across Hong Kong, New York and Sydney, also with Merrill Lynch, Bankers Trust and Westpac.

Commenting on his appointment, Helman Sitohang, CEO of Credit Suisse, Asia Pacific, said: "I look forward to having a strong talent of Richard's calibre join our Asia Pacific leadership team and continue to build on the success of our Australia business."

Gibb will succeed John Knox, who is departing the bank after 24 years' service, the past four as CEO for Australia.
