CPA Australia has announced the departure of Adam Awty after 18 years of service, effective 2 April 2018.

Awty is currently CPA's interim CEO, a role he was appointed to in June last year following the controversial departure of former CEO, Alex Malley. Prior to this, Awty had spent four and a half years as the organisation's chief operating officer.

In a statement announcing the appointment of Andrew Hunter as its new CEO, CPA Australia said Awty is stepping down to "pursue other career opportunities". His former role as COO has been made redundant.

Commenting on his departure, president and chair, Peter Wilson, said: "Adam took up the interim CEO role during the most tumultuous period in CPA Australia's history and the new Board thanks him for his efforts to keep the organisation moving ahead over this time."
