Contango AM names Chief Executive Officer

Contango Asset Management has announced that Martin Switzer will be the firm's new chief executive officer, effective March 2018.

Switzer stood in as interim CEO in October last year following the departure of managing director and chief investment officer, George Boubouras.

In his time as interim CEO, Switzer has been responsible for overseeing "a rigorous cost review" of the business, relocating Contango's operations to Sydney and implementing a revised operating structure and business model.

He was previously the chief operating officer at Switzer Financial Group (SFG), a role that he has recently stepped down from. He will move into a non-executive role with SFG.

Commenting on his appointment at Contango, chair, Roger Amos, said: "The board is delighted that Marty has accepted the offer to take on the CEO role on a permanent basis."

Contango has also announced that it will acquire the remaining shares in Switzer Asset Management, of which it currently owns 46%. Switzer Asset Management is a joint venture between Switzer Financial Group and Contango Asset Management.
