Commonwealth Superannuation CEO joins ASFA board

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has announced the appointment of Peter Carrigy-Ryan, CEO of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC), to its board as a public sector fund representative, effective November 2017.

Carrigy-Ryan joined CSC in 2004 and before being promoted to CEO, was chief operating officer.

At ASFA, he is joined by Melinda Howes, general manager of superannuation at BT Financial Group, who has been appointed to the board as a retail fund representative.

Carrigy-Ryan and Howes replace outgoing board members, Brad Holzberger, CIO at QSuper, and Dean Thomas, managing director at Hilross Financial Services, who stood down at the end of their terms following ASFA's recent AGM.

Commenting on Carrigy-Ryan's appointment, ASFA chair, Michael Easson, welcomed the "wealth of industry experience" that his 30 years' industry experience would bring to the board.
