Citi promotes Liu

Citi has promoted Kan Liu to senior vice president and client director.

Liu first joined Citi as a personal banker at its Sydney Chinatown branch and quickly moved into senior relationship management and executive roles. He became vice president in 2016 and managed a portfolio of more than $300 million including wholesale clients.

Citi Australia's head of banking and wealth management distribution Gofran Chowdhury told Financial Standard that Liu has been an asset to the team and customers. "The experience of 2020 highlighted that we need to work more closely with clients than ever before, as we navigate unprecedented events and ensure their wealth is both protected and enhanced.

"We are proud to be growing our wealth management business at a time when many companies are focused on rebuilding following COVID-19, and other wealth managers are facing a period of uncertainty."

In his new role, Liu said he will ensure Citi is engaging with customers at every step of their wealth journey, "to ensure we are meeting their investment objectives and surpassing their expectations."
