Challenger has announced the appointment of John Green as an independent director on its board, effective 6 December 2017.

Green was previously an investment banker at Macquarie Group and was also a partner at two major law firms. He is currently deputy chair of QBE Insurance Group, and also a novelist and co-founder of book publisher Pantera Press.

At Challenger, he is joined by fellow independent director, Melanie Willis, who is currently a non-executive director of Southern Cross Media Group and Mantra Group.

Commenting on their appointments, Challenger chair, Peter Polson, said: "We are very pleased to welcome these two outstanding directors who bring valuable skills and perspectives to our Board. Both Willis and Green will also join the board of the Challenger Life Company.
