Serge Allaire is set to leave NAB/MLC after 17 years to take on the newly-created head of private equity role with industry fund Cbus.

Allaire first joined MLC as head of business development and led the restructuring of the business into NAB. He later became the GM of business development for FP&TP and later nabInvest. Allaire has been a portfolio manager for MLC Private Equity since 2012.

The appointment is one of several Cbus announced today, including John Longo as head of property and James Crawford as head of equity portfolio construction.

"The quality of Cbus' Investment team has always been key to its success," said Cbus chief investment officer Kristian Folk. "We are an innovative long-term investor with a total portfolio perspective. As part of this approach, we focus on taking advantage of the Fund's scale by continuing to build in-house expertise to manage significantly larger funds under management and to continue to deliver strong long-term returns. These key new appointments support this strategy and our continued success for Cbus' members.

"I am delighted to welcome John, Serge and James to our team. Their expertise in property, private equity and equities will be key to our continued outperformance and maximising the retirement savings of our members."
