Michael Thawley re-joins Capital Group

Capital Group Australia has announced that Michael Thawley will re-join Capital Group as senior vice president, Capital Strategy Research. In this role he will work closely with the company's global investment team, advising on potential investment impacts that stem from international political and policy developments. Thawley will also join the board of Capital Strategy Research, the group's global macroeconomic team.

He will be based in Capital Group's home base of Los Angeles but will play a senior and active role in supporting Paul Hennessy, managing director, and his team in building out the Capital Group business in Australia.

He was most recently secretary of the Australian government's Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) from 2014 until January 2016. Thawley also served as Australia's Ambassador to the United States from 2000 to 2005. He then joined Capital Group, in his previous role, where he served on the investment committees of Capital World Investors and Capital Research Global Investors, two of the company's three equity investment groups.
