BTFG GM Superannuation joins ASFA Board

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has announced that Melinda Howes, general manager of superannuation at BT Financial Group, has joined its board as a retail fund representative, effective November 2017.

Howes is an actuary whose career has spanned policy, strategy, consulting, product and sales work in superannuation, wealth management, insurance and not for profit entities.

Prior to joining BTFG in late 2014, she was director of product strategy and services for AMP's Insurance and Superannuation business. Her other prior roles include CEO of the Actuaries Institute, director of policy at ASFA, and consultant with ALEA Actuarial.

At ASFA, she is joined by Peter Carrigy-Ryan, CEO of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, who joins the ASFA board as a public sector fund representative.

Howes and Carrigy-Ryan replace outgoing board members, Brad Holzberger, CIO at QSuper, and Dean Thomas, managing director at Hilross Financial Services, who stood down at the end of their terms following ASFA's recent AGM.
