David Plumb, who has been chair of BT Super Trustees for more than a decade, is retiring.

The departure was announced by Westpac's specialist business and group strategy chief Jason Yetton, who thanked Plumb for his time with the organisation.

Gai McGrath, who spent time as an executive with BT and Westpac before moving into directing, has been appointed to the board and named chair.

Plumb currently holds several directorships including with BlackRock and icare NSW. He's been on the Westpac and BT super board since March of 2011. He became chair in late 2015.

As an executive, Plumb spent several years with Challenger, retiring as chief financial officer for financial planning in 2010. He also held audit, product, and finance roles with Tyndall Australia, EY, and AMP.
