Accountancy and business advisory firm Bentleys has appointed Tony Sacre, former head of the Sydney Stock Exchange, as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Sacre has close to 25 years' experience in banking and financial markets, including senior roles with ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, the Bank of Sydney, the AME Group, NAB, J.P. Morgan and HSBC. He was appointed to his most recent role as CEO of the Sydney Stock Exchange in August 2016.

Commenting on his appointment, chair of Bentleys' national management board, Martin Power, said: "With significant experience in financial markets, Tony has experienced business from all perspectives - from mum and dad operations through to major companies and large hedge funds."

Sacre added: "The accounting and advisory sector, particularly in the mid-tier, is undergoing a period of significant change as new technologies and increased competition re-shape the way services are delivered...I am delighted to be joining such a proactive and innovative accounting and business advisory firm, and look forward to working with the National Management Board and the Bentleys team to continue and enhance our growth trajectory."

Sacre, who will commence in the role on 1 August 2018, succeeds former CEO, Mark Chapman, who departed Bentleys in June to take on the role of chief operating officer at CountPlus.
