Date: May 2021
Position: Non-Executive Director

Law Institute of Victoria CEO Adam Awty has joined the board of industry fund legalsuper.

Legalsuper chair Kristen Mander said that Awty's appointment reflects the board's move to link directors with the legal sector while expanding the financial and commercial expertise on the board. "Adam's role as Chief Executive of the Law Institute of Victoria centres on meeting members' expectations through the highest standards of professionalism and service delivery - a direct alignment with legalsuper's own role in managing the retirement savings of Australia's legal community.

"Adam also brings strong governance credentials to legalsuper through current and previous positions on statutory authority boards and audit and risk committees. We regard this as a vital attribute, in keeping with legalsuper's recognised excellence in corporate governance."

Legalsuper CEO Andrew Proebstl said the $4.5 billion fund looks forward to Awty's contributions. "At a time when superannuation has become the subject of daily media commentary covering material issues such as reform, performance, mergers, and regulation, we look forward to Adam contribution valuable experiences and insights to Board discussions and deliberations."

Awty replaces Geoff Hone, who retired from the organisation's board in March after 11 years.
