Australian Unity Wealth's chief operating officer, Tim Barber, has moved into a new role as general manager - banking reporting to Australian Unity Wealth CEO David Bryant.

Barber joined Australian Unity Wealth as COO from Ernst and Young in 2012 and has over 20 years' experience in the financial services industry.

Commenting on Barber's appointment, Byrant said: "Having an executive of Tim's calibre in this role is in line with Australian Unity's strategy to expand its banking offer to members and customers."

Barber added: "I am very excited about driving benefits for Australian Unity's members and customers through the provision of high quality banking products and services...while we can't compete with the big banks on scale, our size and the nature of our organisation allows us to be nimble and responsive to specific customer needs."

Succeeding Barber as COO is Ivan Owide, who joined the firm from Suncorp in January 2017.
