ASX promotes deputy general counsel to compliance chief

Janine Ryan has been named the new chief compliance officer at the ASX.

She replaces Kevin Lewis, who is retiring after more than a decade with the organisation. Ryan will also take Lewis' seat on the ASX Corporate Governance Council.

Ryan has been with the ASX since 2013 first as the general manager for legal and then as deputy general counsel. She was a partner in equity capital markets with Gilbert + Tobin and special counsel with Freehills for more than 12 years.

"On behalf of the Council, I wish to congratulate Kevin on his new role at ASX and recognise the outstanding service he has provided to the Council over the past 10 years", said ASX Corporate Governance Council chair Elizabeth Johnstone. "I also welcome Janine to the Council as ASX's new representative."
