Position: Deputy Chief Executive Officer

ASX deputy chief executive officer Peter Hiom has announced his resignation after more than 23 years with the organisation.

Hiom first joined the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) in 1998 as a project director. He became GM of strategy and business development in 2001 and, in 2006, became group executive for business development. He was named deputy CEO in 2010.

ASX MD and CEO Dominic Stevens thanked and congratulated Hiom for his time with the organisation. "Peter has made a significant contribution to Australia's financial markets over many years, first at SFE and then ASX, including the past 11 years as deputy CEO.

"Peter is a strong advocate for embracing new technology to deliver innovation and efficiency across our industry. This is best exemplified by his leadership of the investigation and adoption of distributed ledger technology to underpin the replacement of CHESS."

Hiom is leaving the ASX to pursue his interest in blockchain technology, joining global investment firm Motive Partners. He'll serve as an industry partner.
