APRA has appointed Renee Roberts as executive director of its policy and advice division.

Roberts has an extensive background in finance, insurance, and banking. She spent more than 25 years with NAB and was most recently the COO for QBE Insurance. With NAB, Robers held general manager roles supervising credit and risk, corporate banking, and collections and fraud. She also spent several years as the Chief Risk Officer for the Bank of New Zealand.

APRA Chair Wayne Byres said, "I am pleased to welcome Renee to APRA. Her background across a diverse range of roles in Australia and overseas, as well as her experience in risk management, strategy and governance, make her well qualified to lead the Policy and Advice Division, as well as contribute to APRA's functions and activities more broadly.

"I'd also like to acknowledge and thank Heidi Richards for her significant contribution as Acting Executive Director during one of the busiest and most demanding periods APRA has experienced in many years," Byres said.
