ANZ names new Australia Wealth chief

ANZ has announced that it is simplifying its approach to wealth management to more closely align the distribution of wealth products and services with its retail and commercial business, and to focus its insurance, superannuation and investment product business in Australia on 'improving returns and capital efficiency'.

Amidst several changes to take effect from March 12, Alexis George, currently MD insurance, will lead ANZ's newly-named Australia Wealth business, which will include ANZ's remaining insurance, superannuation and investment activities in Australia.

Prior to joining ANZ in 2013, George worked at ING for 10 years, including in Hong Kong, and Czechoslovaki. She is also a former head of securities services for BNP Paribas in Australia.

George will report to ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott.
