GERARD FLORIAN
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited - Group Executive Technology
APPOINTMENT
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND BANKING GROUP LIMITED
Date: January 2017
Position: Group Executive Technology

ANZ has announced the appointment of Gerard Florian as group executive technology for the firm, effective 30 January 2017.

In this role, Florian will be responsible for defining ANZ's technology strategy and building and managing the Group's technology infrastructure.

He joins from Dimension Data where he was chief strategy officer for the global Cloud Business Unit. Prior to that, he was the chief technology officer and chief marketing officer for Dimension Data's Australian division.

He is also a member of the ANZ International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel established in 2015.

Commenting on his appointment, ANZ CEO, Shayne Elliott, said: "Gerard's appointment...highlights the critical importance of technology to transforming ANZ to compete effectively in the digital age...Gerard's leadership skills and his background in technology including cloud computing make him ideally suited to oversee the strategic shift that we need to make."

Florian added: "I've been working on the vendor side of technology now for nearly 30 years and in that time a lot of the focus has been spent with customers, such as with ANZ, and getting people to embrace technology. I think the focus has shifted in the market because now it's all about applying technology to solve customer problems and create new business opportunities and I think the best place to do that is inside an end user organisation."
