AMP Capital has announced that Merran Edwards, head of international strategy, real estate, has been appointed to the new role of chief financial officer, real estate. The change follows AMP Capital's Real Estate business being realigned along specialist sectors, the firm said.

In her new role, Edwards will lead the finance, global strategy, business planning, strategic partnerships and risk functions.

Edwards, who has more than 17 years' experience in real estate and corporate advisory, joined AMP Capital in March 2016 as executive manager, origination. She was then appointed to the role of head of corporate portfolio strategy, and to her most recent role in July 2018.

Other changes to the real estate leadership team include Brett Williams taking on the new role of managing director, retail; Luke Briscoe's appointment to the expanded role of managing director, office and logistics; Kylie O'Connor's appointment as chief operating officer & managing director, separate accounts; and John Dynon taking on the role of head of origination & capital.

Global head of real estate Carmel Hourigan, who all the new roles will report to, said: "The new integrated sector specialisation structure and bolstered client focus will best enable AMP Capital to deliver for its clients and achieve its growth strategy."

Leaving the firm is head of real estate funds management Chris Judd. AMP Capital said as the overall business structure is now sector aligned, the role is no longer required.
