The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has appointed David Plant as general manager of strategic alliances.

In this role, according to the AFA, Plant will be responsible for "building and enhancing mutually beneficial alliances across the spectrum of financial advice."

Plant has more than 30 years' experience in the financial services industry, having worked in senior roles across licensee operations, business coaching and customer service for organisations such as Suncorp, AON and AXA.

Commenting on his new role, Plant said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the AFA at a time that will be the catalyst for a new era of advice...The direction that the AFA is taking, being passionate advocates for advisers and advice, attracted me to the role."
