What drew you to your new role with Neuberger Berman?

Neuberger Berman (NB) is a dynamic organisation with a rich investment history. I am particularly drawn to the collegiate culture and transparency when dealing with internal and external stakeholders. The role has given me an opportunity to work with global teams and local service partners to develop ongoing operational synergies. Additionally, I am thoroughly enjoying working alongside Paul, Lucas, Angela and the rest of the local NB team and drawing from their business and client knowledge, to help service our clients.

What are your goals with the firm over the next 12-months?

My aim is to develop a deep and thorough understanding of the organisation's global operations framework and the strategic goals of the local business, and to proactively invest in building long-term relationships with clients, service partners and colleagues. With the knowledge base I develop and the new relationships I form, I hope to make a significant contribution to our clients and the business by providing another dimension to client servicing and efficiently managing client and fund operations.

How has your previous experience prepared you for this role?

My former roles in operations within funds management and custody have provided me with an understanding of the various facets of investment operations in a variety of investment vehicles. My past experiences have allowed me to form views on the benefits of ongoing development of operational controls and value of exceptional service quality, as well as the importance of maintaining an ability to adapt to the ever changing industry in which we operate. I am hopeful that my past experiences coupled with the knowledge I will gain at Neuberger Berman will allow me to make a positive and valuable contribution to the overall success of Neuberger Berman.

What was your very first job?

My first job was at a car wash. I had always had a love for cars, so this was a match made in car heaven for a 15 year old! A lot can be learned about service quality, efficiency and customer service at a car wash!

Where did you grow up and what was it like?

My earlier years were spent in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. My family migrated to Sydney's west when I was a 9 year old boy. I grew up with my parents, three sisters and a brother. Growing up, my household was large, loud and fun!

Who has been the biggest influence on your life/career so far?

My dad has been my biggest influence in my life. He has and will always be my point of reference for life. He has instilled in me the value of striving for growth and development but to always be grateful and content.

I had the great opportunity and good fortune to work with Chris Aylen at Vanguard Investments. Chris has been my professional mentor and has been instrumental in shaping my career to date. He is a very passionate individual who has invested his time and took a personal interest in my professional development.
