Schroder Specialist Private Equity Fund (SSPEF)

Schroders Investment Management has launched a global private equity fund for Australian investors called the Schroder Specialist Private Equity Fund (SSPEF).

The fund will have a focus on small-to-mid cap specialist opportunities in the US and Europe, as well as Asian growth companies.

"These companies, at smaller and earlier stages in their life cycle, are generally not accessible via listed markets. Additionally, this is an area where we see a particularly compelling risk/return trade-off for investors," Chris Durack, Schroders Australia chief executive officer, said.

Schroders has also flagged that it will offer more private asset solutions locally.

The Schroder Specialist Private Equity Fund offers quarterly liquidity - generally capped at 5 per cent of net asset value per quarter.

"We believe this investment focus and fund liquidity, combined with clear and transparent pricing, set the fund apart from others available to Australian investors," Durack said.

The fund has management costs of 1.48 per cent per annum plus indirect costs of 0.32 per cent per annum. There are no performance fees. It is managed by Swiss-based Schroder Adveq, which was acquired by Schroders in 2017.
