HSBC Global Asset Management Australian Dollar Liquidity Fund

HSBC Global Asset Management has launched a new Australian Dollar Liquidity Fund for institutional and wholesale clients looking for alternatives to bank deposits to invest surplus cash.

HSBC says that under the new Basil III regulations, as banks will no longer be able to rely on clients' non-operational cash deposits for their liquidity test, investors will need to find new liquidity and capital preservation solutions for their non-operational cash reserves.

"The AUD fund will invest in a wider range of onshore and offshore assets than traditional Australian money market funds, giving investors a greater level of asset diversification," head of HSBC Global Asset Management in Australia, Geoffrey Pidgeon, said.
