Founder of investment consulting firm Evergreen Consultants, Angela Ashton, has launched a new research house, called Evergreen Ratings, which will focus on alternative investments. It will look at local and global closed-ended, wholesale, illiquid and listed investment vehicles, including property syndicates, private equity, venture capital and hedge funds.
“At Evergreen Consultants, we are constantly being asked to review these types of investment vehicles, either by our clients who are primarily financial advisers or by the managers issuing them,” Ashton said when launching the research house.
“We believe there is a clear gap in the market in rating these types of investment vehicles at the very time the supply of and demand for them is growing significantly among financial planners and their clients.”
Fund managers will pay to be rated, with reports made available to financial advisers. Evergreen ratings has already been commissioned to write four research reports that will be issued shortly.
The research house has hired consultants Daniel Liptak and Mark Wist to fill out the team.
