Australian Catholic Super RetireSmart custom equities strategy

Australian Catholic Superannuation & Retirement Fund (ACSRF) has teamed up with implementation manager Parametric Portfolio Associates to develop a new custom-designed equities strategy for members in its RetireSmart pension option.

The strategy was developed in collaboration with Parametric, which manages other mandates for the fund, and it will aim to deliver downside protection in falling markets, while meeting specific yield targets to provide members with a reliable income stream. It is part of ACSRF's concept of seperate 'cash' and 'growth' buckets for retirees, which was launched in 2015.

"We have nearly one-third of our members in retirement, and many more making plans to retire in the very near future," Greg Cantor, chief executive officer of ACSRF, said.

"This particular cohort of members have needs that, we felt, required a customised solution. We have established a reputation for innovation across the fund and we are building on this further by rethinking the investment challenge for retired members."
