Westpac has named a new chief executive for its consumer division.
Chris de Bruin joins the organisation from UAE-based Deem, one of the largest non-bank financial institutions in the Middle East.
de Bruin has diverse international experience. Before joining Deem as CEO he was the president of Canadian fintech Zafin and the global head of distribution and retail products with Standard Chartered Bank.
"Chris has extensive experience in consumer banking, including leading the global retail distribution and product portfolios, as well as several regional consumer businesses, of a multinational bank," said Westpac group CEO Peter King.
"He also has a strong background in fintech and digital banking, which will be particularly valuable as we work to enhance our digital capability and better meet customers' changing needs."
de Bruin is expected to commence in the role in early 2021.
