WealthO2 co-founder, chief steps down

Shannon Bernasconi, the co-founder and chief executive of the privately-owned wealth management software solution provider, has stepped down from her executive role in the business.

Andrew Whelan, the organisation's chief distribution officer, has been named acting chief executive. Whelan joined the organisation in January of this year.

"The board extends its appreciation and thanks for Shannon's efforts these past four years. We wish her well for the future," said WealthO2 chair Neil Roderick. No other details of her departure were included.

In July, Bernasconi was named a finalist in the Women in Finance Awards for Chief Executive Officer of the Year.

Before her involvement with WealthO2, Bernasconi was the managing director at Calastone Australia. She also held product and client roles with RBC and Westpac. Bernasconi started her career with J.P. Morgan as a business analyst in the UK.
