UN GLOBAL COMPACT NETWORK AUSTRALIA
Date: April 2020
Position: Non-Executive Director

Pru Bennett has joined the board of directors for the UN Global Compact Network Australia (GCNA).

Bennett is a former managing director for Blackrock, and has more than 20 years' experience in corporate governance across the Asia Pacific region. She retired from her position with Blackrock in early 2019 after nearly 10 years with the firm. She's currently consulting for Australian corporations on stakeholder management and communication. In her role with Blackrock, Bennett also looked after responsible investments.

The UN GCNA is a corporate sustainability initiative, which counts more than 10,000 businesses and includes 3,000 non-business participants. The idea is to bring together corporates, non-profits, and universities to advance corporate sustainability and sustainable development.

"There has probably never been a more challenging time for corporations to manage the interests of stakeholders, while also ensuring the long-term sustainability of their businesses," said Bennett. "The GCNA has a vital role to play in guiding businesses through this very difficult time and I look forward to working with the board to ensure that sustainability issues remain a key consideration as companies negotiate the new social and economic landscape."
