Sykes to join AvSuper

MTAA Super deputy chief executive Michael Sykes, who is set to leave the organisation next month, will take on the chief executive role at aviation industry superannuation fund AvSuper.

Sykes will replace Michelle Wade, who is leaving after 13 years in the top job.

"The Board and staff of AvSuper are looking forward to Michael becoming part of the team and continuing to build upon the living ethos of 'Members' first,'" said AvSuper chair Ben Firkins.

Sykes, who has been with MTAA Super for more than 15 years, is CPA and CIMA qualified and has more than 25 years' experience in financial services.

AvSuper executive manager Nick Smith has been appointed acting chief executive pending Sykes' commencement in April.

Established in 1990, AvSuper currently has more than 6,500 members with $2.6 billion FUM.
