UBank CEO Lee Hatton has left the NAB division to oversee Suncorp's banking and wealth arm.

"I am excited by the opportunity to lead Suncorp Bank and be part of a great team as it moves into its next phase of growth and transformation. Suncorp Bank is already outperforming its peers and some of the majors through its digital banking capabilities and has signalled its intention to strengthen its core banking offerings through its strong investment in organisational capability and culture," said Hatton.

Acting Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston says that Hatton's specialist experience and positive track record made her the right person to take on the role. "Lee is the ideal leader for Suncorp Bank as we continue to transform the experience our customers have with us. Her track record of building customer-focused, digital banking offerings and ability to positively influence organisational culture means she is the ideal candidate to lead Suncorp Bank in the rapidly evolving and highly competitive environment we are in," said Johnston

Hatton has been CEO of UBank since 2015. Industry Moves has reached out to NAB for comment on her departure and will update this story when it is received.

She replaces David Carter, who departed for RACQ in October.

Update: A statement from a UBank spokesperson:

"After 17 years in the NAB Group, Lee Hatton has made the decision to leave her role as UBank CEO to pursue a new opportunity. Lee has made a huge contribution to the team and we wish her every success in the future.

"UBank Chief Operating Officer Glen Aiton will step in as interim CEO while the search for a replacement is underway."
