Suncorp names Group CEO

Suncorp has appointed Steve Johnston as group chief executive officer. Johnston has been acting in the role since the departure of Michael Cameron in May 2019.

In announcing his appointment, Suncorp chair Christine McLoughlin said: "Steve's vision for our company leverages our strong digital foundations, embraces an innovation mindset, builds on our customer-centric culture and invests in the capability of our people. The Board is confident in his ability and drive to achieve results and deliver for both our customers and shareholders."

Johnston joined Suncorp in 2006 and has held various executive roles since, most recently as group chief financial officer and previously as deputy CFO and EGM investor relations and corporate affairs.

He said of his new role: "Having worked for Suncorp for nearly 14 years, I have acquired a deep understanding of our banking, wealth and insurance operations, and have immense pride and passion for Suncorp and our people."

Deputy CFO Jeremy Robson will continue to act as group CFO while the search for Johnston's successor is underway.
