State Super has appointed Charles Wu, the fund's former general manager assets and liabilities, as deputy chief investment officer and general manager of defined contribution (DC) investments, effective January 2019.

The role is one of four new investment roles created following a restructure of the fund's senior management team.

The other three roles are: general manager, defined benefits (DB) and liabilities; senior manager, investment risk; and senior manager, responsible investing, which has been awarded to Alice Martin.

Richard Hedley has also departed as CIO of the fund, with Gary Gabriel named as his successor, effective 4 February 2019.
