Spaceship appoints Chief Risk Officer

Tech-focused super fund, Spaceship, has announced the appointment of Daniel Yip as chief risk officer, effective May 2018.

Previously, Yip spent seven years at APRA, most recently as its principal analyst. Prior to this, he held superannuation related roles at KPMG and IBM.

Also joining the fund is Thomas Kildea, who has been appointed as a senior compliance manager responsible for Spaceship's internal compliance team. Kildea was most recently a senior compliance officer at AON.

Their appointments follow two recent technical breaches by Spaceship and its trustee, Tidswell Financial Services, that resulted in infringement notices from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) last month.

Commenting on the new hires, CEO Paul Bennetts said: "Attracting two senior executives with APRA experience will provide reassuring insight into regulatory best practice."
