DEBORAH RALSTON
SMSF Association - Chair
DEPARTURE
SMSF ASSOCIATION
Date: September 2019
Position: Chair

The SMSF Association has announced that Dr. Deborah Ralston has resigned as both chair, effective 27 September, and a member of its board, effective 3 October 2019.

The announcement follows Ralston's appointment to the three-member Retirement Income Review panel that was announced by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg last week.

Ralston said of her decision to resign: "Unfortunately I find myself in a position where I feel I must tender my resignation as Chair and a Director of the SMSF Association. It has been a privilege to work with my fellow directors, the executive, and the members, all of whom are dedicated to ensuring Australians enjoy a secure retirement."

Ralston joined the SMSF Association board in July 2016 and was appointed chair in February 2018.

She will be succeeded by Vanguard's head of corporate affairs, Robin Bowerman, who said of her service: "[Deborah] has provided the Association with sound leadership at a difficult time for the industry, and I know I speak for all members when I say her contribution has been greatly valued."

Andrew Hamilton, a former chair of the association, has been appointed vice chair.
