Centrepoint Alliance has announced the appointment of Angus Benbow as its new CEO, effective 2 April 2018.

Benbow has two decades of leadership experience. Most recently, he was the CEO of Shadforth Financial Group (Shadforth), a role that he left on 15 December 2017. He assumed the leadership of Shadforth following its acquisition by the IOOF Group in November 2015.

Prior to Shadforth, Benbow held senior executive roles at Perpetual, News Corp Australia, Booz Allen Hamilton and also as an officer in the Royal Australian Navy

Commenting on his appointment at Centrepoint, chair, Alan Fisher, said: "I am delighted to welcome Angus to the Company. His proven leadership skills and passion for quality financial advice make him a great addition to the Centrepoint team."

Benbow added: "It has been a tremendous privilege to lead Shadforth, it truly is a special place to work. However, an opportunity has presented itself that offers a very flexible platform from which to truly innovate in the Australian advice marketplace."

"I'm excited for the opportunity to lead a business that is truly client led in what I believe will become an increasingly fragmented advice sector."

He will replace interim CEO, Soula Cargakis, who has been acting in the role since the departure of former managing director and CEO, John de Zwart, who left in November 2017. Cargakis will resume her role as distribution & marketing executive when Benbow joins in April.

A spokesperson for Shadforth said: "Angus has been tireless in his efforts to reinvigorate Shadforth post the acquisition by IOOF and leaves behind a strong and experienced leadership team."

IOOF will look to appoint an acting Shadforth CEO next week to lead the business into 2018.
