COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIA
Date: September 2020
Position: Executive General Manager Operational Risk and CRO Support Units

Peter "PJ" Taylor has left Commonwealth Bank after nearly 12 years, most recently as executive general manager for operational risk. He previously spent more than five years as the chief risk officer for wealth management.

Taylor announced his departure on his LinkedIn, writing "Serving CBA, its customers and stakeholders has been a remarkable privilege and experience. So too has been working with many talented colleagues and leaders, many of whom have become good friends."

Taylor has been on a long service sabbatical for several months. He said the timing may not have been ideal because of travel restrictions, however, "it was tremendous to spend time with family and friends, recharge and reflect on what is next for me.

"I am delighted to continue my career in banking and thrilled to be joining Westpac in October in a risk management role. Very excited about the opportunity."

CBA chief risk officer Nigel Williams told Industry Moves, "We had always planned for him to return but unsurprisingly to anyone who has worked with Peter, he was successful in securing an opportunity outside the Group, in a senior risk management role.

"In the two years we have worked together, Peter has delivered the most significant transformation ever in the way we manage operational risk at CBA and while we will miss his leadership, we wish him every success in his next opportunity."

CBA's Anvij Saxena, who stepped into the role when Taylor went on sabbatical, will continue in the position.
