Rest super has dipped into the tech space for their new GM of technology.

Simon Smith has been brought in to lead the Rest technology team, which looks after technology architecture, engineering, information security and risk.

Rest group executive for innovation and technology Jeremy Hubbard says investing in tech and data is a strategic objective for the business. "Technology is crucial in helping our members engage with their super on their own terms earlier and more often - and, therefore, achieve their personal best retirement outcome," he said in a statement.

"We will become a more agile organisation through the implementation of a new cloud foundation, which will use the latest AWS native tools and patterns to provide speed and flexibility as we look to deliver greater value to members", said Hubbard.

By using automation, Rest hopes to improve their digital customer experience by increasing speed to market while maintaining robust security and quality standards.

Before joining Rest, Smith was the CIO and CTO at the telecom Vocus, group CTO for payment processing service Vix, and CTO for Melbourne IT. He also provided consultancy to organisations including vividwireless, the Sydney Airport Corporation, and RedBalloon.
