PIMCO has promoted Australian head Adrian Stewart to the head of client management for APAC ex-Japan.

Kimberly Stafford, MD for PIMCO and head of Asia Pacific, says that Stewart's new role will involve "leading the account management teams in these markets to continue to deliver on our objective of providing industry-leading client service and experience.

"Among his many business priorities, he will deepen penetration across the firm's product suite including Alternatives, Asia Credit and ESG and, drive innovation across new vehicles to meet the growing diverse needs of investors in the region", concluded Stafford.

While he is expected to relocate to Hong Kong, Stewart will retain responsibility for client-facing relationships in Australia and New Zealand.

Before joining PIMCO in 2014, Stewart was the head of wholesale distribution, marketing and product management with Macquarie.

Executive VP Brendon Rodda will assume leadership of business management, adding to his duties as head of distribution for global wealth management in Australia.

Rob Mead, MD and co-head of Asia-Pacific Portfolio Management, will head PIMCO's Australia office.
