Position: Chair, Vanguard Super

Vanguard Super is edging closer to launching its public offer by naming legal specialist Peggy O'Neal as chair.

She's joined on the board by directors Jeremy Duffield, Anne Flanagan, and Cynthia Lui.

Vanguard Australia head of superannuation Michael Lovett said, "The Board brings decades of local and global experience to Vanguard Super. I am confident they will successfully lead our entry into the Australian superannuation market with a compelling offer that best serves our future members."

O'Neal has a legal background, having been a consultant with Lander & Rogers for the last decade and a partner with Herbert Smith Freehills for the 16 years before that. She's also the president of the Richmond Football Club.

"I am delighted to join the board of Vanguard Super Pty Ltd and play a part in delivering greater choice to the Australian superannuation market," said O'Neal. "My involvement in both the Cooper Review and the implementation of the Stronger Super reforms impressed upon me the importance of continuous improvements in the provision of low-cost, high-quality superannuation offerings; elements that are central to Vanguard super's design."

Lovett said they are presently refining their offer and, with the guidance of their new board, look to bring it to market later this year.
