Ninety One demerges from Investec Group, names Australian head

Ninety One, previously Investec Asset Management, has completed their demerger from Investec Group and has launched their own brand, the final step in becoming an independent global asset manager.

The company was listed on 17 March on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.

Justin Cowper has become the Australian country head for Ninety One, the role he held while the business was Investec Asset Management. He started with the organisation nearly 10 years ago as head of sales and marketing. "Since launching our Australian operations in 2013, we have made it our focus to work hand in hand with institutional investors to tailor our specialist investment capabilities to meet the needs of their portfolios."

He's additionally taken on the title of head of institutional, Asia Pacific and Middle East client group.

Before joining Investec, Cowper held business development and institutional sales roles with Colonial First State, Principal Global Investors, and Tyndall Asset Management.
