WorkCover QLD has announced the appointment of Bruce Watson as chief executive officer, effective 1 January 2017.

Watson was previously CEO of Mine Wealth + Wellbeing super fund for 11 years and left the role in February 2016.

Commenting on his appointment, WorkCover QLD chair, Glenn Ferguson, said: "Bruce is an outstanding and proven CEO with a demonstrated track record of delivering sustainable financial performance and customer service excellence in the financial services sector."

"Under Bruce's leadership, I am confident that WorkCover will continue to build on the momentum the organisation has created via the delivery of technologically advanced claims management platforms and outstanding customer experience."

Watson replaces Tony Hawkins, who has held the role of CEO since 1998, and will retire from WorkCover QLD on 31 December 2016.
