The National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX) has announced the resignation of managing director and chief executive officer Ann Bowering, effective 5 July 2019.

Bowering was appointed to the top job in 2016, after several years as a director on the NSX board, and previously served as chief financial officer of Financial & Energy Exchange Limited, as head of operations & business development at Lucsan Capital, and as an associate director of KPMG.

Commenting on her tenure, the NSX said: "Over the past three years Ms Bowering has overseen the complete restructuring of the organisation with the amalgamation of our Melbourne and Newcastle offices into the Sydney office and by building a new management structure and operational team."

Matthew Loughnan has been appointed as interim CEO while the search for a permanent replacement is underway.
