National Australia Bank has announced the appointment of Kathryn Fagg as a board director, effective 16 December 2019.

Fagg has been a board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours for distinguished service to business and finance, to the central banking, logistics and manufacturing sectors and to women.

She is also the former president of Chief Executive Women, the current chair of Boral Limited and Breast Cancer Network Australia, and serves as a director of Djerriwarrh Investments Limited, the CSIRO and Incitec Pivot. Previously, she held executive roles with Linfox Logistics, Bluescope Steel and ANZ Bank.

Fagg said of her appointment to the NAB board: "I believe a strong banking system is essential for our nation's economic wellbeing and I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience from multiple sectors, including banking, to address the challenges and opportunities for NAB earn the trust and respect of its shareholders, customers, employees and the broader community."

Fagg's appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
